By default, WordPress website display listing of recent posts on the homepage. For different look for specific type of websites, you can also display static content on the homepage instead of recent posts listing. This can be easily done by setting specific (static) page as homepage. There is no coding required for such functionality, you need to make few clicks to select which page content should display on your WordPress site’s homepage.

Set static page as homepage of WordPress website

1. Login into your WordPress dashboard and goto Settings > Reading option on left sidebar. On “Reading Settings” page check “Front page displays” section at the top. By default, “Your latest posts” option is selected.

2. Click to select “A Static Page” option and then select specific page from drop down box next to “Front Page”. Then click “Save Changes” button to confirm on changes. Refresh your website homepage, you should see contents of the selected page instead of recent post listing.

You can still access post articles like before from specific post urls. You can also specify page for post content by selecting page from drop down box next to “Posts page” (just create a blank page for this purpose and select it). This feature extends functionality of WordPress based websites to easily showcase unique static content on the start homepage.
